If you think you might have appendicitis, there are a few things
that you can look for to help you decide if you need to go to the
doctor or not. There are different things that could be causing you
discomfort, so it is a good idea to know what to look for. You may
also want to know what to keep an eye out for in case someone you know
develops some signs of appendicitis.
Some signs and symptoms of appendicitis are pain and discomfort
around your belly button that shifts toward the right side. The pain
will usually get worse as time goes by and you will experience
tenderness to the touch on the right side of your abdomen. The pain
may worsen when you try to walk or move around and you will not be
able to get comfortable enough to relieve it. It will be a sharp pain
when you press on the right side of your abdomen and it will keep
coming back.
You might find yourself fighting off nausea and having a loss of
appetite. A fever may present itself, which is the body's way of
fighting off infection. You may begin to vomit, if you are able to
eat. There might be some gas problems and you could have
constipation. On the other extreme, you might experience diarrhea. If
you find yourself with any of these symptoms accompanied by a pain in
your side that just will not go away, you should seek immediate
medical treatment.
If your appendix were to become infected and you did not get
treatment, you run the risk of having it burst inside of your
body. The bacteria and infection can lead to some pretty nasty
problems within your internal organs. In some cases, death can
actually happen. This is why you should always be aware of what is
normal for your body and what is not normal. Knowing what signs to
watch out for will be a step in keeping yourself healthy and alive. An
infected appendix can be removed with a routine procedure and then you
will be back on your feet and living your life again, pain free .
